Welcome to FLAMES!
Thank you for your interest in FLAMES. Follow these 3 overall steps, and in minutes you’ll have FLAMES running on your computer.
- Install the FLAMES Launcher. The FLAMES Launcher is a FREE desktop application that must be installed on your computer to download, install, and run FLAMES applications and content.
- Install the FLAMES Developer. The FREE FLAMES Developer allows you to develop custom software for FLAMES-based simulations. The FLAMES Developer also includes the FREE Trial Version of the FLAMES Engine. The FLAMES Engine is a set of applications that allow you to create, execute, visualize, and control FLAMES scenarios with any FLAMES content.
- Install FLAMES content. All of the software that simulates real-world systems resides in FLAMES-compatible “plugins”. The content items in the FLAMES Store include a wide variety of ready-to-run plugins, example scenarios, and example UnrealĀ® Engine games. Download and install the content that interests you the most. Then, FLAMES will be ready to use.
1. Install the FLAMES Launcher
The FLAMES Launcher is a FREE desktop application that must be installed on your computer to download, install, and run FLAMES applications and content. Follow the steps below to install the FLAMES Launcher on your computer.
- Make sure your computer meets the system requirements for FLAMES.
- Click here to download the FLAMES Launcher installer application.
- Execute the installer application to install the FLAMES Launcher.
- Start the FLAMES Launcher on your computer.
- If you have not done so already, sign up for your FLAMES account. You must have an account in order to purchase items (including FREE items) from the FLAMES Store.
2. Install the FLAMES Developer
The FREE FLAMES Developer allows you to develop custom software for FLAMES-based simulations. The FLAMES Developer also includes the FREE Trial Version of the FLAMES Engine. The FLAMES Engine is a set of applications that allow you to create, execute, visualize, and control FLAMES scenarios with any FLAMES content. Follow the steps below to install the FLAMES Developer and the Trial Version of the FLAMES Engine on your computer.
(Note: The FREE Trial Version of the FLAMES Engine is fully functional and does not expire; however, it is limited in capacity. If you like FLAMES, you can purchase and install the full-capacity versions of the FLAMES Engine and FLAMES Options by following steps similar to those listed below.)
- Start the FLAMES Launcher on your computer.
- Sign in with your FLAMES account.
- Click the Store menu in the top of the FLAMES Launcher window. This will open the FLAMES Store in a web browser and automatically sign you in to the Store using your FLAMES account.
- In the Store, select the FLAMES Developer card to display the FLAMES Developer page.
- On the FLAMES Developer page, click Add to Cart.
- Click the Cart symbol in the right side of the FLAMES Store menu bar to display the Cart page.
- On the Cart page, click Proceed to Checkout. Because the FLAMES Developer is FREE, checkout will be automatic, and no payment will be required.
- Go back to the FLAMES Launcher. Click the Library menu in the top of the window to open the Library section.
- In the Library section, select the FLAMES Developer card to display the FLAMES Developer page.
- On the FLAMES Developer page, select the Version and Architecture you wish to install.
- Click Download to download the FLAMES Developer to your computer.
- After the download is complete, click Install to install the FLAMES Developer on your computer. When you install, be sure to install all of the available items.
- On the same page under Subscriptions, click Assign Host to assign the FLAMES Developer subscription to your computer.
The FLAMES Developer and the Trial Version of the FLAMES Engine are now installed on your computer. However, in order to use the FLAMES Engine applications with FLAMES scenarios, you must also install one or more FLAMES content items.
3. Install FLAMES Content
All of the software that simulates real-world systems resides in FLAMES-compatible “plugins”. The content items in the FLAMES Store include a wide variety of ready-to-run plugins, example scenarios, and example UnrealĀ® Engine games. To download and install the content items that interest you the most, follow the steps listed here. Then, FLAMES will be ready to use.
