The use of FLAMES is governed by the terms and conditions of the FLAMES License Agreement.
All FLAMES products are licensed on an annual subscription basis. During the subscription year, the licensed products may be used on the computers for which the products are licensed. If a subscription is not renewed, the license to the products expires, the products may no longer be used, and all parts of the products must be uninstalled and deleted as specified in the License Agreement mentioned above.
A license to a product can be either “node-locked”, “dongle”, or “floating.”
Node-Locked Licenses
A node-locked license allows a product to be used on only one host computer. This computer is assigned to the license using the FLAMES Launcher.
Dongle Licenses
A dongle license allows a product to be used on any computer to which the appropriate dongle is attached. A dongle is a very small device (less than 2 inches long) that plugs into a USB port on a computer. The cost of a dongle and the cost of shipping a dongle to the licensee are included in the cost of the product subscription.
Floating Licenses
A floating license allows a product to be used on any computer that is connected to a given local area network. The number of computers on which the product may be used concurrently is determined by the floating license quantity. For example, if 3 floating licenses are purchased for a given product, the product may be used concurrently on any 3 computers on a given local area network. This network is assigned to the floating license when the product is installed, and it cannot be changed during the term of the subscription.
No-cost Licenses
Licenses for some FLAMES products, such as the FLAMES Developer, are available at no cost. Such licenses are always node-locked licenses, and they may be obtained for as many computers as is desired.
Trial Licenses
A no-cost license to the Trial Version of the FLAMES Engine is included with each license to the FLAMES Developer. The Trial Version supports nearly all of the features of the FLAMES Engine and the Engine options. However, the Trial Version has limited capacity: scenarios may contain no more than 10 players and may execute for no more than 5 minutes. Also, the Trial Version may be used only (1) to conduct a short-term evaluation of FLAMES capabilities and (2) to debug and test the software developed using the FLAMES Developer. Any other use of the Trial Version is prohibited. You must purchase a license to the FLAMES Engine and your desired options to unlock their full capacity and to be authorized to use them for other than evaluation and software development purposes.
