July 30, 2025 – The U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) has awarded Ternion Corporation a $17,000,000 firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for the sustainment and upgrade of the FLAMES Automated Simulation Trainer (FAST™). FAST is used as the embedded training simulation of the USMC’s Common Aviation Command and Control System (CAC2S). Ternion continues to provide software lifecycle sustainment and maintenance for the CAC2S FAST baseline, as well as engineering services that enable the development, integration, and fielding of new capabilities.
FAST is a turn-key, commercially available simulation developed by Ternion Corporation specifically to serve as the central constructive simulation in a live-virtual-constructive (LVC) training exercise. FAST models real-world air, ground, and sea systems; command, control, and communications; surveillance systems, and weapon systems in scenarios that automatically simulate air operations and missions. Direct connections between FAST and live CAC2S systems are used to send and receive real-world digital data and allow CAC2S operators to train as they fight.
CAC2S is managed within the portfolio of Program Executive Officer Land Systems (PEO LS) in Quantico, Virginia. The work for the contract will be performed by Ternion Corporation in Huntsville, Alabama. The ordering period of the contract will be for five years and will begin on July 14, 2025.
